Live
goldfish, mollusc or crustacean species may not be brought into Tasmania
without appropriate permits issued under the Animal Health Act 1995.
Species that are prohibited by the legislation or policy of any other Agency
may not be imported.
Abalone (Haliotis sp.) – Importation
of abalone (dead or alive), including abalone products, is PROHIBITED.
Abalone from any state or territory may only be permitted entry to Tasmania if
a Special
Authority has been obtained from the Chief Veterinary Officer prior to
the importation taking place and the import conditions of that Special
Authority have been strictly complied with.
The
Fisheries (Rock Lobster) Rules 2011 sets size and possession limits which apply
to imported rock lobsters of the genus Jasus and Sagmariasus. Lobster species
outside of these categories are not subject to Tasmanian fisheries management

Live
Molluscs and other marine invertebrates (other than those species listed
under the General Authority for Live Mudcrabs and Tropical Marine
Invertebrates) – Importation is NOT ALLOWED without a
valid Special
Authority issued by the Chief Veterinary Officer.
Live Rock and Live Sand – These are prohibited
and may not be imported into Tasmania unless in accordance
with a valid Special
Authority issued by the Chief Veterinary Officer. Applications can be
